Sustainability

Committed to sustainability, our values aim to balance a clean environment with high-quality services and minimal environmental impact. The Port of Aiguablava, located in the heart of the Costa Brava within a protected and idyllic natural space, represents the perfect harmony between boating and respect for the environment.
Certifications
Annual renewal of the Blue Flag certification, accredited by the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer (ADEAC). This award has been granted year after year since 2012. It recognizes compliance with specific criteria for environmental quality, services, safety, and public information.
ISO 14001 certification acknowledges the effort to balance operational efficiency and minimize our environmental impact.

Actions
WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Selective waste collection
The port has two collection areas to prevent the spread of waste and promote recycling.
Collection of bilge water and hydrocarbons
A designated area for collecting all types of waste, to prevent severe contamination of the marine environment. It is available to any user.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Solar panels
Photovoltaic panels will soon be installed to reduce electricity consumption and, at the same time, lower our carbon footprint.
Electric mobility
The port has a charging station for electric vehicles.
A charging station for electric boats will soon be available.
WATER TREATMENT
Regenerated water
Regenerated water is used for cleaning the boats in the port, thanks to a 3000-liter tank.
Legionella treatment
All analyses and periodic controls required by regulations are carried out to ensure the water quality in our facilities meets the established parameters.
ELECTRICITY
Lighting
All sodium vapor lighting in the port is being replaced with LED technology to further reduce consumption and our environmental impact.

SES NEGRES MARINE RESERVE
Founded in 1993, the Ses Negres Marine Reserve is a stretch of coastline in Begur, from Sa Riera to Aiguafreda, with 1800 meters of coastline under surveillance, restricting any activity that could harm the seabed.
The shore area is limited by a buoyed channel with a speed limit, where no fishing or anchoring is allowed. However, snorkeling is permitted. After 20 years of protection, significant ecological recovery has been achieved.

RESPONSIBLE ANCHORING
Responsible anchoring means protecting our natural surroundings. Posidonia is a marine forest and, therefore, a cradle of marine biodiversity; its role is crucial in oxygenating the water.
Before anchoring, it is necessary to identify areas where it is allowed, preferably where the seabed is sandy. Make sure there are no posidonia meadows beneath, use plow-type anchors, gently drop them into the sea, and ensure they are properly secured before releasing the chain. Promoting responsible anchoring helps create a more sustainable maritime community.
DROUGHT CAMPAIGN
We recommend controlling water consumption at the port as much as possible, whether it comes from the mains or is regenerated. The marina staff is responsible for cleaning all the boats. This ensures careful consumption at all times. It is important to make sure that the port faucets are well-closed and used responsibly, as water is a scarce resource—every drop counts.
